    SCIA Hosts China-Uzbekistan International Arbitration Seminar


    The Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) participated in Uzbekistan Arbitration Week on September 11 at the invitation of the Tashkent International Arbitration Center (TIAC), making it as the only arbitration institution from China’s mainland to appear at this occasion. During the event, the SCIA co-hosted a seminar with TIAC on "International Arbitration Development Trends from the Perspective of China and Uzbekistan".

    First Secretary Liu Yang from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Uzbekistan, Director Diana Bayzakova of TIAC, and SCIAs Vice-President and Director of SCIA Kashi center An Xin, delivered speeches at the seminar.

    The first session of the seminar featured presentations on "Arbitration in Uzbekistan: Framework and Current Trends" by Leng Kaiwei, director of Shanghai Duan & Duan Law Firm Chongqing/Tashkent office; Alexander Korobeinikov, arbitrator at SCIA and partner at Baker & McKenzie - CIS Limited; and Sergey Lysov, an arbitrator at the Russian Arbitration Association.

    The second session included speeches on "Recent Developments in Chinese Arbitration and Dispute Resolution" by Hu Lingfeng, director of Legal Affairs for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and South Asia at ZTE Corporation; Gong Pengjin, legal manager of ZTE’s Uzbekistan subsidiary; Xu Jianjun, SCIA arbitrator  and founder of Beijing Xu’s Law Firm; and Peng Yanbing, deputy legal counsel at SCIA.

    More than 60 guests, including senior lawyers, company representatives and industry experts from China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Russia and other countries, attended the seminar.

    During their visit to Uzbekistan, the SCIA delegation also visited the BYD Uzbekistan subsidiary, the Duan & Duan Law Firm Tashkent office, and the China Nuclear Industry 22nd Construction Co Ltd. 

    They discussed international arbitration cooperation and development between China and Uzbekistan, encouraging enterprises from both countries to protect their legitimate rights and interests through international arbitration.
